Monday 9th May 2022
Dear Valued Customer,
The RESTAURANT will be CLOSED Monday lunch, Monday dinner and Tuesday lunch every week from W/C 16TH May 2022 until further notice. FOR GUESTS WITH EXISTING LUNCH & DINNER RESERVATIONS on a Monday & Tuesday after 16TH May, the team will be in touch shortly to assist you with alternative arrangements.
For our BED & BREAKFAST RESIDENTS, we will ensure that we continue to offer full breakfast service 7 days a week. Unfortunately, no evening meals will be available on Mondays, however there are plenty of other great places to eat in town. Alternatively, we can offer a ‘Yorkshire Sampler’, showcasing some of the best local produce from across the Dales.
The BAR will be REMAIN OPEN from 12PM – 10PM on a Monday and Tuesday.
The ongoing catastrophic effects of Coronavirus continue to have far-reaching consequences for the hospitality sector and, as we are sure you will have seen in the national media, staffing availability is in a dire position right across the industry. Whilst we have endeavoured to welcome guests to dine with us on a 7-day week basis through the winter months, is it becoming increasingly clear that it is not viable operating model for the foreseeable future.
At its simplest, our entire team are exhausted and already working well beyond what should be expected of them. For this we will be forever grateful. However, what we will not do is sacrifice their health & mental well-being for the long-term. Quite simply, the commitment of our team, work ethic and business values are what the White Hart is built on, and what makes such a special place for our guests to visit.
This decision hasn’t been taken lightly and obviously has far-reaching consequences for our Business; however, we simply have no other choice without compromising the team and/or the high quality and high standards of product and service which our reputation is based upon.
We are continuing our recruitment efforts; however, this remains an ongoing challenge, particularly in such a rural area, which is only made worse for us by fact there are few/no accommodation options for staff in the local vicinity.
We all thank you for your support, patience and understanding in what feels like an impossible time for the hospitality sector, and would ask that you show the same kindness and consideration to all staff working in hospitality venues in the area right now, who are doing nothing short of ‘working their nuts off’.
We will obviously return to full 7 day dining again when possible.
Matthew & Andrew
